eye on beauty: Oscars 2011. Best Red Carpet Beauty Look goes to…

Here are our picks for hair, makeup, and style that made the red carpet sizzle

Jennifer Hudson – Jennifer popped on the carpet in that tangerine-orange Versace gown with purple shoes to boot! As a matter of fact, celebrity hairstylist Kiyah Wright tells eye*like*your*style the inspiration for the elegant updo was indeed THE gown. “When I saw the dress I was totally inspired, and thought hot, sexy, Barbie doll. The week started with another look, and I was totally unprepared. When I saw this look, I was like Wow!” exclaims Wright.

With Jennifer’s new svelte figure, Wright felt the updo would keep her look young. Using her favorite hair products L’Oreal Professional Elnett Satin, Wright achieved the not-so-formal style with a chignon low ponytail with a little backside décor. To finish the look Wright used the golden hot quarter size iron to curl all over and use the body and fullness to tease and sculpt her look as desired. Glam could not go awry on the red carpet so a strong hold hairspray and hairpins was the business to mold and sculpt Jennifer’s mane and kept it in place all night long.

Mila Kunis - The Black Swan star was stunning in a lavender lace Elie Saab Couture gown. Celebrity makeup artist Tracey Levy took inspiration for Mila Kunis’ Oscar look directly from the bold yet feminine gown. Rather than matching the gown, Levy used colors that accentuated Kunis’ skin tone and complimented the entire look. For the face, Lancome Teint Miracle Lit-from-Within Foundation, Lancome Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose. For the eyes, Levy blended coral and bronze tone shadows, Lancome Color Design 5 Pan Palette in Coral Crush, Lancome Color Design Eye Shadow in Impress, Lancome Le Crayon Khôl EyeLiner in Black for striking definition, and Lancome Hypnôse Waterproof Custom Volume Mascara in Black to finish. Her lips: Lancome Color Fever Gloss in Blazing Pink and Lancome La Laque Fever Lipshine in Lucent Nude.

TRESemmé hairstylist Mara Roszak created Mila’s Grecian-inspired updo: soft, feminine, and romantic. To replicate the look, apply TRESemmé Naturals Mousse to wet hair and dry it, parting the hair to one side. She then wrapped pieces around a 1-inch barrel curling iron, curl away from your face in sections. Brushed out the curled sections and gather the hair off to one side in a messy chignon. Then spray it all over with TRESemmé Naturals Finishing Spray for a soft-hold finish.

Hailee SteinfeldMarchesa does it again. Hailee Steinfeld was darling in her pale ballet pink, crystal embroidered tea-length Marchesa gown. The youngest nominee this year, the actress accessorized her one-of-a-kind gown with silver Ferragamo clutch and peep-toe shoes, sparkling Fred Leighton jewels and headband gave the ensemble its finishing touches. A raspberry pink lip color and a classic bun keep it all sweet and age-appropriate.

Halle BerryHalle Berry is a show stopper in this champagne crystal-encrusted corset strapless gown by Marchesa with organza and silk tulle at the hem and gentle row of ruffles. The nude color complemented her skin perfectly — the stunning, intricate beading, the tulle detailing, the simple silver jewelry, and the Christian Louboutin’s just added to the beauty.

The beauty breakdown: Celebrity makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua was inspired by the lightness and shimmer of Halle’s gorgeous Marchesa gown, and interpreted that into her soft nude makeup look. Her base was a mixture of Chanel Mat Lumiere Matte Fluid Makeup shades in Honey, Walnut and Chestnut. Bua played up her eyes with warm browns, keeping them shimmery and soft while smoking them up and lining the inner eye, using Revlon Luxurious Smoky Eye Pencil in Brown Smoky and Revlon Custom Eyes Mascara in Black. For the cheeks, to balance out the smoky eye, but still keeping the look healthy and fresh, Bua applied Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Horizon, a warm glowing peach. For the lips, Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Peche, a peach tone that has just enough brightness and definition, and applied Chanel Glossimer in Petit Peche. Her appearance on the carpet was undoubtedly one of the peak moments of the night.

Scarlett Johansson - Scarlett Johansson definitely caught our eye dressed in burgundy lace Dolce & Gabbana dress. Celebrity makeup artist Gianpaolo Ceciliato accentuated the 26-year-old starlet’s tousled bob hairstyle with a warm caramel, gold, and rose shadows from Dolce & Gabbana's Smooth Eye Colour Quad in Stromboli. He lined her lids in Dolce & Gabbana The Crayon Intense Eyeliner in Gold and several coats of Dolce & Gabbana Mascara in black. Ceciliato brushed a light dusting of Dolce & Gabbana The Illuminator in Eva onto the apples of her cheeks to create a lit-from-within look and finished with Dolce & Gabbana The Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Candy.

Mandy MooreMandy Moore shines in Monique Lhuillier nude ombre sparkle. Tiny silver beading comes all the way to the neckline. The beauty breakdown: NARS worked with celebrity makeup artist Kayleen McAdams to create the red carpet look for the Tangled starlet. The inspiration came from all the coral and orange lips on the runways for spring. McAdams did a tangerine version on the lips and cheeks. Face, Neck & Décolleté: NARS Copacabana Illuminator, NARS PRO-PRIME Pore REfining Primer, NARS Sheer Matte Foundation. Eyes: NARS Silk Road Duo Eyeshadow, NARS PRO-PRIME Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, NARS Corfu Cream Eyeshadow, NARS Coconut Grove Eyeshadow, NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara, NARS Black Moon Eyeliner Pencil. Lips: NARS Red Square Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, NARS Hopi Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil (NEW for Spring 2011).

Sandra Bullock - Presenter Sandra Bullock looked elegant and graceful in a strapless tomato red Vera Wang gown with an asymmetrical neckline. Celebrity hairstylist David Babaii, known for achieving red carpet perfection, created Sandra’s chic and textural updo for her 2011 Oscar look, while celebrity makeup artist Angela Levin was inspired by old Hollywood glamour and gave her a complementary classic makeup look. Sandra represents elegance and simplicity, Levin’s inspiration for Sandra’s look was a glowing princess. Face: CHANEL Hydramax + Active Serum around her eyes lips and cheeks. CHANEL Sublimage Concentrate which created a gorgeous, healthy complexion.  For a base she used CHANEL Vitalumiere Fluid Makeup in Clair. On the lower jaw line, chin, and forehead, CHANEL Mat Lumiere Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup in Clair. Eyes: CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Kaska Beige.  CHANEL Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir to create a very thin, delicate line. Cheeks: CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Fuchsia. Finally, on her lips: CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Gabrielle.
